First For Aylmerton

15 Aug First For Aylmerton

Woodpark Stud were pleased to see the first foal of their stallion Aylmerton, born recently with War Front mare, Una Fuerza, giving birth to a Bay filly, her first foal.

Una Fuerza is an American bred mare by one of the hottest sires in the world right now and is out of the Distorted Humor mare, Amusing. Una Fuerza was a two-time winner in the US.

Jean Dubois of Woodpark Stud said the filly “is a lovely compact first foal and very correct. She is a filly with a lot of energy and is always bouncing around the paddock.

Aylmerton was an exceptional two-year-old winning on debut, then went on to blitz them in the 2018 Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick, a key lead-up to the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).

The Golden Slipper is the holy grail of two-year-old racing in Australia and a win in the race can set a colt up for life. A win in any of the key lead-ups can also have a similar effect and global breeding giant Coolmore recognised that Aylmerton was a horse worth getting involved in.

Aylmerton ran in the Slipper and finished midfield after catching the eye of caller Darren Flindell when looming up near the 200m but just peaked on the run.

It is fair to say that Aylmerton didn’t quite capture that two-year-old form again but he retired to stud at Woodpark Stud as a horse that had tremendous ability which was proved in those first few starts.

He served seven mares last season, all of which got in foal and majority of them being Woodpark mare’s.

He will again be supported this season by Woodpark with horses such as imported mare Orion Love, who is a dual Hemisphere winner.
